The beginning of the summer tourist season in Albania, this year is giving signs of revival and expectations to be better than last year remain high. Kosovo Albanians are expected to be the salvation through so-called "patriotic tourism" that can help the country after the blow it received from the COVID-19 pandemic.
A large influx of vacationers have crossed the Morina border crossing in early June. According to police data, over 30 thousand people have crossed the border to enter Albania these days.
Authorities say police have stepped up counters and are working through an expedited procedure. Last weekend about 15 thousand citizens of Kosovo Albanians entered our country, while in the first four months of 2021, over 380 thousand citizens entered the country through the Morina border crossing point.
Last season marked more than 1.7 million vacationers from Kosovo, while this year it is moving at the same pace as the pandemic situation in Albania and Kosovo is improving.
